Friday Photo - S'mores!

Last weekend, I (with the help of the boy) built a fire pit for our condo association. Since I put in all that hard work, I wanted to be the first one to use it, and I also wanted marshmallow goodness! Let me tell you, cinnamon graham crackers with s'mores are pretty awesome!

The fire pit turned out great. I'll post pictures soon.

Book Review: The Shadow of the Wind

Book Review: The Shadow of the Wind This month's book club book was The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

The Shadow of the Wind My rating: 4 out of 5 bookmarks Summary from Amazon page:  Barcelona, 1945: A city slowly heals in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and Daniel, an antiquarian book dealer’s son who mourns the loss of his mother, finds solace in a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind, by one Julián Carax. In fact, Daniel may have the last of Carax’s books in existence. Soon Daniel’s seemingly innocent quest opens a door into one of Barcelona’s darkest secrets--an epic story of murder, madness, and doomed love.
My review: Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was pulled in from the beginning. The characters felt human; they made mistakes.

Friday Photo * 2

Last week's photo, which I never got around to posting...

This week's photo was a little more difficult. I was going off some inspiration I saw a long time ago. I got really frustrated trying to figure out how to use an external flash for the first time. I stumbled upon making it work by accident, but I really like the way the picture turned out. I'm definitely going to have to come up with some ideas to practice using the flash. This could be fun.
